Scarsdale Action for Youth (S.A.Y) is hosting the next FREE Narcan Training course on Thursday, June 8th (12-1pm) at the Scarsdale Library. The training course will teach you how to recognize the signs of an opioid overdose and administer the opioid overdose reversal drug Naloxone. The course is suitable for all community members including students, parents and caregivers.
Participants will learn about:
How opioids affect the central nervous system
Data and impact of the opioid public health crisis
Opioid / Fentanyl involvement
Youth / Young Adult (15-24) Trends
How naloxone stops an overdose
Recognizing the signs of an opioid overdose
How to administer the opioid overdose reversal drug naloxone
All participants will receive a free Narcan Kit upon completion of the training. The course will be taught by Lillian Neuman, Director of Community Outreach at St. Vincent’s Hospital and James D – a young man in recovery – who will share his personal story.
